What changes

AI amplifies how your team works

If the team inspects and adapts, AI multiplies its value. If not, it multiplies its problems.
DORA confirms it: working in small increments matters even more for teams that use AI.

What makes it work

  • What is delegated, to whom, how, and how far
  • Planned review, not improvised review
  • Generated is not done
  • Measured by outcomes and flow, not by volume
  • Transparency about what AI proposed
  • AI proposes; people decide

What breaks it

  • Illusory speed: looking fast without being fast
  • Producing without reviewing
  • Dropping the Sprint Retrospective
  • No one is accountable for the outcome
  • The single expert who validates everything
  • Measuring AI adoption instead of outcomes

With AI, people matter more: the Scrum Master role is growing

AI takes over the mechanical work. The role focuses on what no machine can do: facilitating and supporting change, fostering psychological safety…

On the left, a robot handles mechanical tasks: calendar, checklists, reports, and paperwork. On the right, separated by a line, a Scrum Master facilitates a conversation with her team in front of a board of sticky notes

Not just in software

Scrum applies to all kinds of knowledge teams, and AI has reached them too. The guide includes examples from software and from other fields: marketing, human resources, legal advisory, teaching…

Frequently asked questions

What is Scrum Master 5.0?

The 2026 edition of the Scrum Master core syllabus, which covers how a Scrum Team works when AI prototypes, documents, and builds. The framework doesn't change; the context in which it is applied does.

Do I need to know how to code, or a specific tool?

No. The principles apply to any knowledge team and don't depend on any programming language or tool.

Does AI replace the Scrum Master?

No. AI takes on mechanical tasks; the role grows in what requires human judgment. The Product Owner and the Scrum Master are always people.

What's the difference between Scrum Master and Scrum Master + AI?

Scrum Master is the core certification. Scrum Master + AI adds the professional skill “AI applied to agile work”, maintained and assessed in Skill Arena.

I'm already certified. What should I do?

Your certification remains valid. You can renew its currency in Skill Arena with the 5.0 syllabus.
